ANGI HALVORSON

 Angi is the owner and head coach at Carlisle CrossFit and founder of Deus Ex Machina Fitness and Wellness. Angi started her path in functional fitness and wellness in 2010. After having two children, she decided that it was time to change her life and be an example to her family. In 1 year, Angi shed over 30 pounds and was stronger than she’d ever thought she could be. After 3 years she had lost over 50 pounds and started her first functional fitness facility in her own garage, sharing her experience and love for a fitness and wellness oriented lifestyle. Angi is the most educated functional fitness instructor in the Central Pennsylvania area and is proud to call Carlisle CrossFit her second home.

MARIA BRUNO

CrossFit Level 2 Instructor

Maria is a coach at Carlisle CrossFit. When Maria is not at her full-time job as a professor at Dickinson College, you will find her at Carlisle CrossFit training, coaching, and being inspired by the positive atmosphere of the members and staff in the gym. Maria discovered CrossFit in 2010 having just finished grad school and post-docs and looking for a way to stay in shape. She quickly discovered that it also reignited her love for competitive sport, which was an important part of her life before pursuing her academic career. Maria made incredible improvements as part of regular, group CrossFit programming for over 5 years before she joined Brute Strength and her coach Nick Fowler to pursue the sport of CrossFit as a Master’s athlete. In the 40-44 year-old division, Maria has competed in the CrossFit Open and Age Group Online Qualifier, the Granite Games, Wodapalooza, Legend’s Master’s Championship, and Master’s Nationals US Weightlifting Championships. As an athlete and teacher, Maria is constantly learning about how to improve her fitness, and she applies these lessons to programming and coaching all levels of athletes at Carlisle CrossFit. There’s nothing she enjoys more than seeing our members work hard every day and accomplishing their goals!!

TYRA HOSFELT
CrossFit Level 1 Instructor and Nutrition Coach


Tyra is a coach at Carlisle CrossFit. Tyra swam competitively for 9 years and has been an avid athlete her entire life. She trained and competed in a half marathon…just for fun. After college, Tyra was unhappy with the typical gym routine and decided to check out CrossFit. She was instantly hooked and loved the daily challenge it provided. After 3 years, she decided to pursue her level 1 certification to become a trainer.

Kaden Hurley
ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, CrossFit Level 1 Instructor, Youth Empowerment System Certified Coach 


Kaden found CrossFit in 2014 during a challenging mental health period in her life. She went every weekend, addicted to how strong and at home she felt in the community. Taking that feeling with her, she pursued a career in the fitness and wellness industry with the support of her husband and was blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime. Now, Kaden has a hand in most of the gym’s activities as a personal trainer, a group class coach, and the Youth Program Director.

Jon Montag
CrossFit Level 1 Instructor

Jon is the newest coach on the Carlisle CrossFit team and has multiple training clients and runs many of our group classes, both in person and on line.

Carlisle CrossFit, in partnership with Deus Ex Machina Fitness and Wellness continually provides additional training and certifications to our coaching staff. We fund their professional development because we believe in the Carlisle CrossFit team and its coaches. Each coach is encouraged to earn at least one additional certification every year, provided by us. We don’t list any certifications here beyond their major qualifying certificate. Don’t be fooled by a long list of “certificates” on a website. Most of what you read there are 2 day courses that are a money maker for another gym. Come into the gym and talk with the coaches. Find out what they know and who they are. We have the right team to help you be what you want to be.
